Industry Signage in Dubai: Signs Built Around the Business You Run
A pharmacy, a gym and a gold shop can share one street in Dubai and still need three very different signs. The pharmacy board has to match its health licence word for word. The gym wants a sign that reads at night and keeps members motivated inside. The jeweller needs light that makes metal look warm without glare on the glass. A generic shop sign quote misses all of that, so this page is organised by the business you actually run, not by the material we happen to cut.
Marhaba Advertising is a شركة لافتات في دبي working from its own workshop in Al Quoz Industrial Area 4. We design, fabricate and install sector-specific signage for pharmacies, gyms, car showrooms, garages, warehouses, supermarkets, jewellery stores, schools, nurseries, clinics, restaurants and corporate offices. Pick your industry, see what applies to you, and then talk to the team that will build it.
Core Sectors
Six Core Industries We Build Signage For in Dubai
These six sectors have their own dedicated pages because their signage problems are specific enough to deserve one. Each summary below is a short introduction. The full page for each industry covers materials, costs, compliance and real project considerations in depth.
Pharmacy Signage Dubai
A pharmacy sign carries more regulatory weight than almost any other shopfront in the city. The DHA outpatient pharmacy inspection checklist asks whether the main signboard matches the pharmacy name on the DHA and DED licence. That means the name on your fascia, your opening-hours board and your licence must agree before anything goes into production. Most pharmacies pair a lit fascia with a green cross in ولافتات LED so the store reads from the end of a residential street at night.

Gym and Fitness Signage Dubai
Gyms have two signage jobs: pulling new members in from the street and keeping existing members energised inside. DET rules do not allow trade-name signage on the external facade of outlets above the ground floor, so visibility has to be planned around the ground-floor entrance, the lobby and the interior. Inside is where gyms come alive, with لافتات النيون for motivational quotes and large wall graphics for training zones.

Car Showroom and Garage Signage Dubai
Showroom signage on Sheikh Zayed Road is read from a moving car across many lanes of traffic, so letter height, illumination and contrast matter more than decorative detail. Large channel letters, ACP cladding for clean facade bands, and pylon signage near the road edge are the usual mix. Garages need numbered service bays, reception signs, workshop safety notices and branded vehicles.

Warehouse and Industrial Signage Dubai
Warehouse signage is about speed and accuracy, not decoration. A forklift driver needs to find aisle 14, bay C, within seconds. A truck reversing to a loading dock needs a door number readable from across the yard. We produce building identification signs, dock door numbers, aisle and rack markers, wayfinding signage و تصميم الأساطيل for trucks and vans.

Supermarket and Grocery Signage Dubai
A supermarket sign system has three layers that refresh at different speeds. The fascia changes once in years. Aisle and category signs change when the layout changes. Promotional signage changes every few weeks. We build illuminated fascias, backlit signage, hanging aisle signs, promotion counters and seasonal prints through الطباعة بالحجم الكبير.

Jewellery Shop Signage Dubai
Jewellery signage competes in some of the densest retail streets in the city. In that setting, a shop name has to read clearly at close range and still feel premium. Halo-lit letters from our backlit signage range, polished لافتات الأكريليك, and brushed or mirror stainless finishes are the common choices. Decorative frosted glass sticker patterns are often used on private viewing rooms.

School, Nursery and Education Signage in Dubai
Schools and early childhood centres have one rule that shapes every sign on site. KHDA requires a private school's name to be displayed prominently in both Arabic and English, and the name shown must match the name KHDA has approved. When a school changes its name, all signage, advertising, uniforms and stationery must carry the new name by the start of the new academic year.
That makes school signage a scheduling exercise as much as a design one. Gate signs, building identification, classroom door signs, wayfinding between blocks, safety notices, playground graphics and bus branding all need to change together. Accessibility matters too: the Dubai Universal Design Code calls for clear fonts, high contrast and Braille on signage so that people with visual impairments can find their way.
Nursery signage is covered as a dedicated section inside our school signage page rather than as a separate page, because nurseries share the same bilingual naming and accessibility rules but need softer colours, lower mounting heights and child-safe edges.
A freestanding directory totem, the kind of sign that guides parents between school blocks.
More Sectors
More Dubai Businesses We Work With
The six sectors above get their own pages, but they are far from the only work that comes through our Al Quoz workshop. These are the businesses we build for most often, with a quick note on what each one usually needs from us.
Restaurants and Cafes
A restaurant sign has to work twice: on the street to pull people in, and inside to set the mood once they sit down. We usually pair a lit fascia with a neon piece or a feature wall that guests photograph and share.
See neon signage
Hotels and Hospitality
Hotels need a lot of quiet, well made signs: lobby letters, room numbers, floor directories, spa and gym doors. The finish has to match the interior design, so we sample metals and acrylics before cutting anything.
Food Trucks and Cloud Kitchens
A food truck is its own signboard, so the wrap does all the selling. Cloud kitchens rarely face customers, but they still need clean branding on the unit, the delivery bikes and the packaging station.
See food truck branding
Clinics and Dental Practices
Like pharmacies, clinics fall under DHA rules, so the name on the sign must match the licence. Most of our clinic work is inside: reception letters, room signs, and floor directories that help patients find the right door.
Salons and Spas
Salons want warmth and privacy. Frosted glass film keeps treatment rooms private while still letting light through, and a soft halo-lit logo at reception does more for the brand than a loud fascia.
See frosted glass stickers
Real Estate Agencies and Developers
Property brands live at events and launches. We produce backdrop stands, roll-ups and sales gallery graphics, plus office signage for the brokerage itself so walk-in clients know they are in the right place.
See display stands
Construction Sites and Factories
A site fence is often the biggest billboard a developer will ever own. We supply and brand hoarding and fencing, then add the project boards and safety notices the site needs while work is running.
See hoarding graphics
Retail Stores and Fashion Boutiques
Retail is where window graphics earn their keep. A clean fascia brings people to the door, and seasonal window vinyl tells them what is new without replacing the main sign every few months.
See shop signage
Exchange Houses and Mall Kiosks
Mall units come with strict landlord design rules on size, lighting and fonts. We read the mall guidelines first, then build compact, sharp signs and rate boards that pass the fit-out inspection the first time.
Corporate Offices and Co-Working
The reception wall is the first thing a visitor sees, so that is where most office projects start. From there we add meeting room names, glass manifestation and wall graphics that carry the brand through the floor.
See office signage
Logistics and Delivery Fleets
For a logistics company, every van on Sheikh Zayed Road is a moving advert. We wrap vans and trucks in matching sets so a fleet of twenty looks like one brand, and we keep the files ready for when new vehicles arrive.
See van branding
Events and Exhibitions
Event work runs on tight deadlines. Roll-up banners, backdrops and exhibition stand graphics are printed in-house, which is how we turn around a stand for a trade show week without missing the build-up day.

One Sign, Several Regulators: Who Approves Industry Signage in Dubai
Most business owners assume one authority signs off their signboard. In practice, the sector you trade in decides how many sets of rules apply. This is the map we work from when a new industry project lands on our desk.
Issues trade-name signage permits and inspects shopfronts. DET and the Dubai Civility Committee have reminded businesses that only one trade name is allowed per storefront, signage must stay proportionate to the shopfront, and trade-name signs cannot go on balconies or on facades of offices, clinics and outlets above the ground floor.
Handles advertising permits for mainland exterior signage and publishes the Technical Guidelines for Safety Signs at Work (DM-HSD-GU99-SSW2), which cover symbol, location, size, style, material and illuminated sign requirements.
Require pharmacy signboards to match the licensed name, and list an NOC as a requirement when advertising medicine, clinics, hospitals or health products.
Exit signs, directional exit signs and evacuation plans must be installed only by UAE Civil Defence approved contractors under an approved consultant, and inspected for damage and illumination every 30 days.
Requires private schools to show their approved name in Arabic and English, and to update signboards after any name change or new campus approval.
Free zones run their own permit schedules. The Dubai Development Authority publishes annual advertising permit fees by sign type, and businesses in free zones such as Jebel Ali follow their free zone authority, not DM. Our مينا جبل علي page treats permits differently from our mainland pages for that reason.
Your trade licence, your sector licence where one exists (DHA, KHDA), and your landlord or building management requirements. That one step saves more reprints than any material choice ever will.
Letter Sizing
Reading Distance Decides the Sign: A Dubai Sector by Sector Guide
Every industry reads its signs from a different distance, and that distance should set the letter size before anyone talks about colour or finish. A widely used rule of thumb in the sign trade is roughly 25 mm of letter height for every 3 metres of viewing distance as the minimum for legibility. Here is how it plays out across the sectors on this page.
Common Issues
Five Industry Signage Mistakes We Fix Most Often in Dubai
These come straight from jobs that arrived at our Al Quoz workshop after something had already gone wrong elsewhere. None of them are about bad fabrication. All of them are about information that was missing before fabrication started.
-
01
The name on the board does not match the licence
This happens most with pharmacies and clinics, where the trading name customers use is shorter than the licensed name. The DHA pharmacy checklist specifically checks that the main signboard matches the licensed name. A beautiful sign with the wrong wording has to come down. We now ask for a licence copy before quoting any healthcare sign.
-
02
Upper-floor tenants order facade letters
A gym, salon or clinic on the first floor orders large 3D letters for the building face, then learns that DET does not allow trade-name signage above the ground floor on those facades. The letters end up in a store room. The fix is planning the brand around the ground-floor entrance, lobby directory and interior from day one.
-
03
Exit signs bought online for a warehouse
Photoluminescent and illuminated exit signs look like simple printed products, so warehouse managers sometimes buy them in packs and ask us to fit them. Dubai Civil Defence requires approved contractors for exit and directional exit signage. We point the client to their approved fire contractor and keep our scope to bay numbers, aisle markers, branding and workplace notices.
-
04
A rebrand that forgets half the signs
Schools have the clearest version of this rule through KHDA, but every sector suffers from it. The fascia gets replaced and the gate sign, parking signs, vehicle graphics and door vinyl still show the old name for months. We start rebrands with a full sign count across the site so nothing is missed.
-
05
Two brands on one shopfront
Supermarkets with an in-store bakery, car showrooms selling two marques under one trading licence, and pharmacies inside health stores all want to show more than one name outside. DET allows one trade name per storefront. The second brand moves inside, onto display stands, counters and interior graphics, where it is allowed and often more effective.
Budgeting
What Industry Signage Costs in Dubai in 2026
Signage cost in Dubai has two parts: the permit you pay to the authority and the sign you pay to build. They are often confused, and the permit is usually the smaller number.
| Sign Type (DDA Communities) | الرسم السنوي للتصريح |
|---|---|
| Ground floor shop signage | 500 درهم |
| Window sticker | 1,000 درهم |
| Podium parapet or roof parapet sign | 2,500 درهم |
| Wall-mounted hoarding, banner, building wrap, rooftop sign, construction fence | AED 5,000 |
| Mainland DM permit (indicative range) | 500 إلى 2,500 درهم |
Fabrication and installation of a decent illuminated fascia usually runs from AED 15,000 to AED 80,000 (an indicative 2026 market range, not an official tariff). These are the six things that move an industry quote the most:
- Sign sizeReading distance largely decides this. See the guide above.
- Illumination typeFront-lit, halo-lit, neon, LED modules or non-lit.
- المادةFlex face, ACP, acrylic, stainless steel or brass.
- Installation height and accessA ground-floor pharmacy fascia and a showroom roofline are very different jobs.
- Compliance extrasBilingual Arabic and English artwork, DHA or KHDA wording checks, free zone requirements.
- VolumeA warehouse ordering 200 rack labels prices very differently from a single jewellery fascia.
We quote each project after a site survey because those six variables rarely line up the same way twice. Use the contact us page or WhatsApp a photo of your frontage for a first estimate.

الأسئلة الشائعة
Frequently Asked Questions: Industry Signage in Dubai
Yes, for exterior signage. Mainland businesses need a trade-name signage permit through DET and an advertising permit through Dubai Municipality, while free zone businesses follow their own free zone authority. The Dubai Development Authority, for example, charges AED 500 per year for ground floor shop signage. We prepare the drawings and artwork your permit file needs.
Yes. The DHA outpatient pharmacy checklist checks that the main signboard matches the pharmacy name on the DHA and DED licence. A shortened trading name on the fascia can fail inspection. Send us a copy of your licence with your enquiry and we will set the artwork to the licensed wording from the first draft.
Under DET signage guidelines, trade-name signage is not permitted on balconies or on external facades of offices, clinics and commercial outlets above the ground floor. Upper-floor businesses usually rely on a ground-floor entrance sign where the building allows it, a lobby directory, and strong interior branding.
No. Dubai Civil Defence requires exit signs, directional exit signs and evacuation plans to be installed by approved contractors under an approved consultant. We handle the rest of a warehouse sign system, including building identification, dock door numbers, aisle and rack markers, wayfinding, branding and workplace notice boards.
It depends on size, lighting, material and installation height. Independent 2026 estimates put fabrication and installation of a decent illuminated fascia at roughly AED 15,000 to AED 80,000, plus the permit. Smaller non-lit or flex face signs cost less. We confirm an exact figure after a site survey.
Largely, yes. Nurseries and schools both need their approved name shown in Arabic and English, and both benefit from high-contrast, accessible signs under the Dubai Universal Design Code. Nursery signage adds softer colours, lower mounting heights and rounded, child-safe edges, which is why it sits as a section on our school signage page.
Large illuminated channel letters on a clean facade band, often with a pylon near the road edge, because customers read the sign from a moving car 60 to 100 metres away. That distance means letters of roughly 500 mm or more. Finish details matter less than size, contrast and night visibility.
Yes. Souk shops are read at close range, so we focus on finish and light quality: halo-lit letters, polished acrylic, stainless or brass, warm LED colour temperatures that suit gold, and digital gold-rate boards. We also produce frosted glass patterns for private viewing rooms. Check any mall or market management rules before ordering.
Yes, on every exterior sign and most interior work. Arabic is required on exterior signage in Dubai, and DHA facility guidelines place the Arabic translation above the English on health facility signs. Our design team handles both scripts in-house so spacing, weight and alignment stay balanced.
